The COVID-19 pandemic underscored the need for a multi-sectoral, “whole of society” approach to large-scale public health emergencies. While limited documentation exists on private sector participation in health security operations to date, and much of this has been specific to COVID-19, available evidence suggests that the private sector can and should be engaged in multiple ways in preparedness and response efforts. This blog highlights the importance of engaging the private sector in health security efforts and the best practices in this regard.
